Having sketched and photographed the world from Alaska to Antarctica, he has illustrated many books of nature writing and natural history, including the perenially popular Prairie in Your Pocket (Iowa, 2000) and Paul Christiansen's An Illustrated Guide to Prairie Plants (Iowa, 1999).
