Armchair fiction presents extra large editions of the best in classic science fiction novels and short stories, complete with original illustrations. “These are My Children” was one of Rog Phillips’ most ambitious works. Are all Children really created equal? On August 14th, 1969, 800 babies, all approximately two months old, were widely distributed on random doorsteps from the Atlantic to the Pacific. It was a mystery that baffled their adoptive parents all over the country. As time rolled on, these babies seemed to grow into healthy, ordinary kids—at least in their early years. But when they reached the age of eight, a strange thing happened. All the children seemed to develop a fantastic mental power—the ability to influence matter by direct thought! Government officials were understandably astonished at this amazing turn of events. But their astonishment soon turned to horror when people and animals began dying horrible and painful deaths as a result of this power. There seemed to be no limit to what the children could do. It wasn’t long before authorities began to realize the awful truth, that unwittingly, these children could actually destroy the Earth… And then as adults, they could perhaps do it knowingly! Author Rog Phillips was nominated for Hugo awards in 1956 and 1959.
