She earned an Associate's Degree in nursing from Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby, Illinois, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bradley University. Peoria, Illinois. She has a certificate as a Six Sigma green belt. She is a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist/Case Manager by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN), a certified hearing conservationist, and a guest lecturer at Illinois State University.
