Synopsis

The Christian life is an exciting journey! You may just be getting started or just starting over. Wherever this book finds you, the author wants you to know that every step you take toward the Lord is worth it. The Bible calls the Christian life a “walk”— that means that it is made up of a lot of little steps in the same direction. It is not a leap or a sprint. The hope is that this study will help you start out on the right foot and stay there. Those first steps are in the Christian life are important. The author has tried to faithfully put down on paper the most important things for beginning the Christian walk. What he has found over the years is that many people who have been Christians for a long time still struggle in some areas of their walk because they were never really grounded in the basics of the faith. The topics covered in this book are those areas of spirituality you will never outgrow as you walk with God. These are the principles you will live out until the Lord returns or calls you home. This Bible study is written with the goal of guided self-discovery, making the Word of God the authority instead of the author. Its aim is that you would often experience the joy of looking to the Bible and hearing God speak from its pages. The study is also written to point you to application. “Knowledge makes arrogant” but application (or trying to apply) makes us humble. None of us has arrived. We are all on the same journey as spiritual pilgrims. Even after decades as a Christian, you will have not arrived yet. Take comfort in knowing that the apostle Paul said basically the same thing in Philippians 3 which he wrote after twenty-five years as a Christian. “ I am not all that I ought to be, but by God’s grace I am not what I used to be, and my hope and God’s promise is that I am not yet what I am going to be. I am on this journey of the Christian life with you—Following God.” Eddie Rasnake
