Rasmus B. Anderson (1846-1936) was a Norwegian-American scholar, author, and diplomat who helped popularize the study of Norse exploration in the United States. Anderson was an early advocate for the recognition of Leif Erikson as one of the first Europeans to reach North America and contributed significantly to the public awareness of Viking history.

North Ludlow Beamish (1797-1872) was an Irish antiquarian and historian known for his studies of Scandinavian history and Viking culture. His translations and research on the Norse sagas played an important role in bringing early accounts of Viking exploration to nineteenth-century readers.
