Rienne, an intelligent young woman from Paris, finds her life changed in the summer of 1940 when the Nazis enter and occupy her home city. Faced with fear and few choices for what she can do, Rienne must act to evade capture by the Gestapo. When she decides to act, she discovers a strength within herself that carries her through tough trials and experiences, bringing her out on the other side of the liberation of Paris in 1944.

Eli Kale is an author and educator living in Ohio. Resistant, his debut book, is the first in a collection entitled “Faces of the War,” where the Second World War is seen through the perspectives of five different people. Eli graduated from the University of Mount Union in 2012 with a history degree and a teaching license. His short story entitled At the Gates of Sevastopol was published while at Mount Union, which was what truly sparked his interest in writing.
