À propos de l'auteur
Maurizia Boscagli is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at UC Santa Barbara, where she teaches 20th and 21st century literature and visual culture. She is the author of two books, including Stuff Theory. Everyday Objects, Radical Materialism (Bloomsbury 2014), and co-editor (with Enda Duffy) of Joyce, Benjamin, and Magical Urbanism (2011). She is English translator of the philosopher Antonio Negri's book Insurgencies: Constituent Power and the Modern State (1998; 2nd edition, 2009). At UC Santa Barbara she is the director of COMMA, The Center on Modern Culture, Materialism, and Aesthetics.

To call the commodified, ebullient materiality the book tracks stuff, is to foreground its plastic and transformative power, its fluidity and its capacity to generate events. It investigates the potential of stuff to revitalize the oppositional power of the object.Stuff Theory traces a genealogy of materiality: flashpoints of one kind of minor matter in a succession of cultural moments.
