Ravindra V. Jategaonkar has been a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Flight Systems of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Braunschweig, Germany, since 1986. Prior to joining DLR, he was a researcher at the National Aeronautical Laboratories, Bangalore, India (19751986). He received degrees in engineering from the Calicut University, India (B.Sc., 1972, and M. Sc., 1975), and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India (Ph.D., 1986). He has been group leader at the DLR Institute and extensively involved in the development and application of nonlinear system identification methods to flight vehicle modeling. He is recipient of the prestigious DLR award and the title Senior Scientist for scientific excellence (2001) and of the AIAA Sustained Service Award (2007). He was member of the AIAA AFM Technical Committee for more than ten years. He is a member of the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR) and an Associate Fellow of AIAA.
