Synopsis
How Do You Know?<\/I> is about problems of knowledge that arise in everyday life. It presents a philosophical dialogue between characters discussing and debating current, practically relevant, and controversial topics. Each chapter begins with a real issue that is contested in the world today and explores that issue by asking questions like how do you know if someone is really<\/I> an expert, what is the relevance of bias, and how has the internet affected us as knowers? As each chapter progresses the dialogue introduces philosophical concepts that clarify the debate over this issue, and help the characters articulate their positions more clearly and convincingly. The conversations are balanced, with neither side presented as being clearly right or wrong. The aim of the book is to introduce the reader to new questions, concepts, and ways of thinking about contemporary issues.
