The Old Farmer is what the name implies, a sixty-one year old farmer. His life is in his family and the land that surrounds him. His love for nature and all that encompasses the landscape makes for his inspiration in his writing. His pure joy of farm life and people give him a unique perspective for his writing. His depth of feeling allows him to grasp the inner most thought and put it to word. "I am truly blessed by my God and my Creator." He wrote his first poem when in the fifth grade and nearly died when the teacher read it to the class. That was the starting point. But as the years passed he slipped into life and sustaining a family, while his writing was put on the back burner. The dream was still there but the time had become the enemy. As the years rolled along the desire began to surface and once again the mind started to react to the stimulating activity that surrounded him. The words began to flow and the writings began to accumulate. "The Old Corner Post", is the first collection of his writings. His hope and dream is that it will not be the last. It is the greatest of joys to see your work published and The Old Farmer is a happy man.
This book consists of forty-two poems and ballads. They are written from the heart and the hope that each reader can take away something positive from the encounter. Evening Star the Call lures one into the world of sunsets, twilight, night time and The Christmas Tree enters into the wonders of the season. It is the desire of the author that each reader will experience memories and take the time to make more for a rainy day. To embrace what is around us and to take the time to drink in the beauty that is ours for the having. A friend for friends sake, a laugh for laughs sake and joy and peace to desire both. Come into the world of these poems and ballads, you will not be disappointed. You just might, as some have, find a favorite that you will enjoy over and over again.
