Theodore Bergren examines the text of 5 Ezra (4 Ezra or 2 Esdras 1-2), a short, potentially Christian text and its significant manuscripts. Bergren pays particular attention to questions of vocabulary, authorship, date, provenance, and original language. Bergren concludes that the author was a Christian writing in the second or third century CE and that the Latin text may well be based on a Greek original.
