Synopsis

Communication is foundational to any healthy relationship. This is especially true of your relationship with God. Unfortunately this communication, called prayer, becomes too often a monologue rather than a dialogue. That's where Speed Bumps come in. God knows we need help in reversing this natural tendency to treat God like He solely exists to meet our needs and make us happy. So, God purposefully places speed bumps in our lives to get our attention and slow us down long enough to wake up. Speed bumps are intended to help you re-establish or repair your relationship with Him. Your relationship with God can be restored. You can go much deeper. But you'll need to learn how to maneuver around the speed bumps God places before you. This book was written to help you do just that. Mike Landry is the senior pastor of Sarasota Baptist Church in Sarasota, Florida. Because of his dramatic conversion from atheism while a student at Georgia Tech, his ministry is characterized by a passionate desire to introduce others to Jesus Christ. Mike has been married to his wife, Cindy, since 1976. They are currently learning to grandparent their four grandchildren; and they're loving it. "Prayer and intimacy with God are essential elements in the life of the believer. Mike Landry communicates the importance of these elements through several well known personalities in key passages of scripture. I agree with Mike that God wants you to spend time with Him, and when God speaks to you, He will engrave that time into your memory. By reading Speed Bumps and applying the biblical principles presented, you will grow in your prayer life and relationship with the Lord." Dr. Charles Stanley, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Atlanta Atlanta, Georgia
