There has never been conformity or unanimity among conservatives. Conservatism contains many different factions and varieties of thought. The Philadelphia Society has always been dedicated to fostering conversation. This volume is published in that spirit.
About the Editors
Marcus M. Witcher is an Assistant Professor of History at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. He is the author of Getting Right with Reagan: The Struggle for True Conservatism, 1980-2016 and the co-author of Black Liberation Through the Marketplace: Hope, Heartbreak, and the Promise of America.
Kevin L. Hughes is a Visiting Assistant Professor in History at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL. He teaches classes on the Western Tradition, World Civilization, Civil Rights, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and Modern America.
Allen Mendenhall is Associate Dean and Grady Rosier Professor in the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University, where he is also Executive Director of the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy.
The Philadelphia Society was founded in 1964 and for the past fifty-five years it has served as a venue for conservatives and libertarians to discuss the “foundations of a free and ordered society.”
The American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, was founded in 1933 as the first independent voice for sound economics in the United States. Today it publishes ongoing research, hosts educational programs, publishes books, sponsors interns and scholars, and is home to the world-renowned Bastiat Society and the highly respected Sound Money Project. The American Institute for Economic Research is a 501c3 public charity.
