Synopsis

VOLUME 2 (of 11)

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski presents his original teleplays for the revolutionary sf series that introduced the five-year arc to television.

This volume includes:

• "A Voice in the Wilderness" Parts I and II — Babylon 5's first two-part story took Commander Jeffrey Sinclair (Michael O'Hare) to Epsilon 3, the planet B5 orbited and introduced the Great Machine. The February 22, 1994 teleplays are presented herein.
• "Babylon Squared" — The mystery of Babylon 4 is explored in the  January 31, 1994 draft of this episode, which introduced the iconic character of Zathras (Tim Choate).
• "The Quality of Mercy" —  This January 21, 1994 was written while JMS was ill with the flu; it introduced the alien healing machine that played a critical role in future episodes, as well as Centauri genitalia.
• "Chrysalis" —  B5's first-season finale concluded the year with multiple bangs in an assassination plot in this November 29, 1993 shooting script.
• "Points of Departure" — The September 19, 1994 revised draft of Captain John J. Sheridan's (Bruce Boxleitner) debut episode was amended after the episode was filmed, adding scenes to introduce the new leading man in a more heroic fashion.
• "Revelations" — Filled with scenes deleted from the episode-as-aired, the August 16, 1994 draft of "Revelations" resumed the development of the storylines left hanging in "Chrysalis."
• "The Geometry of Shadows" — This August 24, 1994 draft of the story that introduced the techno-mages to the B5 universe was re-written the weekend before filming when actor Claudia Christian--who played Lt. Cmdr. Susan Ivanova--broke her foot.
• "A Race Through Dark Places" — Mr. Bester returns--pursuing a colony of rogue telepaths--in this August 31, 1994 script.
