Taoist Monk Yun Rou (formerly Arthur Rosenfeld) received his academic education at Yale, Cornell, and the University of California. By leave of the Chinese government, he was one of the few Westerners ordained a Taoist monk at the Chun Yang (Pure Yang) Taoist Temple in Guangzhou, China. Blending literature, biology, and medicine with an orthodox Taoist education, his writings and teachings propagate Taoist ideas and focus on personal cultivation, environmental conservation, and political and social justice. From 2010 - 2013, he hosted the hit (60MM households) national public television show Longevity Tai Chi with Arthur Rosenfeld. The American Heart Association profiled Yun Rou as an inspirational resource in 2016. Yun Rou's work has appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Parade, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, WebMD, Fox Business News, and numerous other websites and newspapers. In 1989, he received the National Head Injury Recover Center's Journalism Award, and a Pharmaceutical Advertising Manny Award for the Best Consumer Campaign. 15 of Yun Rou's books have been published to critical acclaim, some achieving bestseller status and garnering Hollywood options. Among other distinctions--including the Eric Hoffer Award, USA Book News Best Books Award, Foreward Magazine Mystery Award, Living Now Book Award--he was a finalist for the prestigious Books for a Better Life award for his bestseller, The Truth About Chronic Pain. His 2015 novel of Chinese history and philosophy, Yin --A Love Story, was published simultaneously in English in the USA and Mandarin Chinese in China, his most recent work is Mad Monk Manifesto (Mango 2018), and other completed books are in the publishing pipeline. Monk Yun Rou began his formal martial arts training in 1980 and has studied with some of China's top Chen-style tai chi grandmasters. In 2011 he was named Tai Chi Master of The Year at the World Congress on Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine. In July 2014, Yun Rou was the opening and closing keynote speaker at the International Tai Chi Symposium in Louisville, Kentucky. He teaches in South Florida and around the world.
