In this volume, John looks at the last of the four gospels written, which focuses on Jesus’ last days of ministry on earth. John wrote with one purpose in mind, to prove “that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31b). Therefore, everything included in the gospel contributes to that end. John clearly showed how controversial Jesus was, and portrayed the difficulty in convincing those to whom He was sent that He was the Son of God. Yet Jesus’ mercy toward women, the blind, and others who were lost is also clearly demonstrated, making John’s gospel a magnificent narrative of Jesus’ love and grace in action.

John Stanko received his Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh in 2011. He has held various positions in church ministry since 1973, and has authored numerous books that have helped people everywhere find purpose and become more familiar with God’s word.
