Arbiter Shannon of the Corvidae kinder-pod has been given the highest honor an arbiter can receive. She has been assigned to the protection detail of Chief Magistrate Artemisia Floros, an easy and borderline-boring job until a disgruntled citizen threatens their lives. Shannon's quick thinking gets the Chief Magistrates attention. When signs of a growing threat to Vitis force the Chief Magistrate's hand, Shannon is asked to be part of a secret team. She must delve into the underbelly of Vitis and find the people responsible for the rising number of murders in Vitis before they increase in power. She must become the very thing she swore to destroy in order to save the country she loves. But when she finds the people she's looking for, they're not what she was expecting.
