Synopsis
Bien qu'étroitement associée à la Nouvelle Vague française, Agnès Varda établit un style visuel unique, drôle et poétique dans le cinéma et l'art en 7 décennies de carrière. Dès son premier film de 1955 La Pointe Courte, bien avant d'autres jalons comme Les 400 Coups de François Truffaut et A bout de souffle de Jean-Luc Godard, Agnès Varda a influencé le cinéma de son premier long métrage jusqu'à ses dernières créations, avec une œuvre prolifique qui comprend Cleo du 5 au 7 (1962), Vagabond (1985) et l'Académie nominée Faces Places (2017). Cet ouvrage présente un panorama visuel des inspirations, de l'art et de la vie personnelle de Varda, intégrant des documents originaux de ses archives personnelles de la rue Daguerre. Le livre couvre les « trois vies » de Varda - en tant que photographe, cinéaste et artiste visuelle - et présente un entretien inédit que Varda a accordé à l'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences à la veille de recevoir son Oscar d'honneur en 2017.
