Set in 1910 New England, a community of families dating back to 1760 come to terms with generational changes to their outlook on life, love, duty and appearances. Should one hope to find true love and act upon it? Or should one turn to what they believe their duty is to their peers and family? The story presents an intriguing mixture of religion, philosophy and romance. The younger generation is more free in their pursuits, while the older generation in more conservative in their beliefs of correct behavior. The traditional ideals of the older members of the community are contrasted with younger members who each seek their own road to happiness.
