A collection of essays on life's observations and experiences. It begins with a chance encounter on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City and continues through the aftermath of the closing of a favorite Italian market, the looming effects of the sound of jet engines in New York City, and the rediscovering of childhood friends and acquaintances. These are real-life encounters and unspoken memories-some haunting, some exhilarating, some sad, and some that will bring smiles and evoke your own warm memories.

Rod Olson was born and raised in a small town in the rolling green hills of Western Pennsylvania. He completed an undergraduate degree from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and an MBA in finance from the University of Pittsburgh, Katz Graduate School of Business. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City and entered the retail industry, where he rose to serve in senior management positions for several nationally known retailers. In 2001, together with a friend, Rod founded Olson-Ng Retail Consulting Group. Their work grew into an international consultancy providing specialty stores with financial, operations, inventory management, systems reviews, implementations, and process reengineering support.Rod is currently working on his second book while continuing to travel for his business. He is also working with his cousin Diana, penning the early lives of their grandparents, from their birthplaces in the Province of Parma, Italy, through their journey to the United States during the first decade of the 1900s, to eventually their settling in what would become the childhood hometown of Diana and Rod, their eight aunts and uncles, and their many, many Italian cousins.
