This is writing that consistently showcases a rich lyricism, clearly fashioned by a sensitive soul, with a plethora of seductive inspiring visions, firmly rooted in the natural world. As you read through John Lysaght`s poetry, there is a clear tangible sense of him `reaching` to maximise his craft and its effects, which is a joy in itself and I always like to see in a fellow poet`s work. A real pleasure to read and highly recommended, especially for fellow aspiring poets.
Scott Hastie, Writer & Poet, London
John Lysaght’s new chapbook of poetry, Naturescapes (Kelsay Books), is a delightful journey into the natural world at the intersection of land, sea and sky. Lysaght, who has written and published numerous poems in literary journals for decades, is a very astute observer of nature, attuned to the sights, sensations and fragrances of the natural world. Many of the works in his new chapbook observe the many faces of the seashore, but also take in the advent of Spring, the arrival of a first snow, the songs of nightingales, and observations of the great blue heron. Like Henry David Thoreau, he is not only a keen observer of nature, but very much a part of it.
