Prashant Singh Panwar was born in Delhi and brought up in a small village named Umahi Kalan in Uttar Pradesh. He never got to play with toys much, but his summers were usually spent swimming and making houses out of sand with village kids during hot afternoons, which he believed were equal opportunities.

Being a farmer’s son, he was used to those huge gatherings beneath the neem tree – playing cards and smoking hookah. Some shadows from those afternoons still rest inside him

He was five when he was admitted in a hostel in Saharanpur. For almost eleven years, he fantasised about travelling in a train for that was the only view one could get outside the window from a hostel. With no doubts, he learnt the true meaning of freedom and being disciplined when he was restricted from doing many things.

Azan is his first book about what he saw – a world so unpredictable and yet predictable….
