Various sectors of social policy, pension systems, health care systems, disability insurance, labor policy as well as social risks, such as poverty and unemployment, have been analyzed from historical, economic, political, sociological and security perspective. This book offers recommendations for improving the level of social security in the region.

This volume focuses on the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Montenegro.

Marzena Żakowska is Assistant Professor at War Studies University, Warsaw, Poland. She has published numerous articles on the Balkan region and armed conflicts, including "The roots of armed conflicts --multilevel security perspective" and "Strategic challenges for Serbia's integration with the European Union".
