Romeo A. Malone is a native Virgin Islander, having been born in St. Thomas and having lived, hunted and fished in the islands all his life. After serving in World War II, Malone set about continuing his interrupted education. He graduated from drafting and electrical school in 1948, and from the Commercial Institute in Chicago in 1950, an accomplished mechanic and architectural draftsman. During years of construction and contracting work, Mr. Malone was always also a writer. He has received a playwriting award and is a published poet. Mr. Malone is now serving as the vice-Chairman of the Savan Developing Organization and as a member for the Territorial Governor's Advisory Committee Comprehensive Policy Guidelines. He is a strong advocate of a balanced environment-both developer and preserver live within him. This is Mr. Malone's second novel; Solona Travis in the Virgin Islands was his first.
