L. Wade Powers, under the name Lawrence W. Powers, has published in the fields of medical technology, ecology, marine biology, and animal behavior. He also published a critical examination of The Winter of Our Discontent for Steinbeck Review, and several articles on natural history and cultural history for Oregon Encyclopedia Online. He has served as a contributing editor for the Journal of the Shaw Historical Library for several years and as the creative nonfiction editor for the Timberline Review. Larry wrote the narrative film script for Fields of Splendor, a 2005 documentary film by Anders Tomlinson. As L. Wade Powers, he has published two novels, The Home (2017) and The Party House (2019) and a collection of short stories, Falling In Love and Other Misadventures (2019). The current and revised edition of his first novel, The Home, was published in November 2019. He is currently at work on a historical novel about Francis Drake in Oregon. This is his second collection of short stories. A retired Professor of Natural Sciences, Larry lives in Eastern Oregon with his wife Alla, with the permission of their cat.
