Bill Ellison returns home from a business trip to discover that his wife, Sharon, has been shot. Since he has no witnesses to his whereabouts the night before, he is, of course, the prime suspect. He recognizes a safety deposit box key on Sharon’s keyring. But when he goes to the bank, he discovers not only a safety deposit box full of incriminating video tapes, he also finds a hidden bank account with regular large deposits. Has Sharon been blackmailing the locals? “Caught in the act,” has more meaning than ever before. Bill’s friend, Sheriff Colton Mitchell, believes in his innocence, but how can he prove it when all the other suspects seem to have solid alibis? And Bill has a strong motive—a large life insurance policy he claims he didn’t even know about. Can he prove he had no idea Sharon had taken out the policy, or is he doomed to be charged with a crime he didn’t commit? Or did he?
