Against the background of World War II, beginning with Hitler's invasion of Poland, this is a story of the 20th Century as experienced in the life of an Italian wine exporter, his family, and his friends. Depicting historical events of that century's early years, World War I is seen in the minds of many as having never really ended; and that it was, in fact, the precursor to the destruction of New York's World Trade Center on September 11, 2011.
Presented herein are the conscienceless machinations of world leaders of the time; you'll read here of things - unbelievable things - you were never told of in school. It's been said of this book: "This should have been published yesterday."

George Perantoni, son of Victor, our story's wine merchant who migrated with the family to Australia in 1949 due to repressive socio-economic conditions in post-war Italy, spent ten years growing up as an "Aussie" kid. His early teen years were spent at Lake Garda in northern Italy, before moving to the United States where he completed his education, earning a degree at the University of Wisconsin. Like his father, Victor, George became "a rolling stone, hanging his hat wherever he calls home." Currently retired and a zealous history buff, he lives with his wife Valerie in Orlando, Florida.
Sam Ivey is a native of Coldwater, Michigan. A pilot at the age of seventeen, and a lover of the sea with over two decades of sailing experience, he currently resides in Yuma, Arizona, along with his wife of many years. A daughter, Aurora, also resides in Yuma and long-time friend Carol, who styles herself "a daughter by choice," is a resident of Washington State. Sam is an experienced convention speaker and is also the author of Crooked Triangle and Jury-Rigged, as well as Gilboy's Quest, a true 19th-century ocean odyssey.
