Essays received: Teachers and Writers' 2012 Bechtel Prize; Notable Essay in The Best American Essays 2013; finalist in 2014 Diagram/New Michigan Essay contest. She teaches a poetry-writing program she created in 1991 for the Henry Viscardi School, a state supported elementary and high school for severely physically disabled students in Albertson, New York.
