Synopsis

"Important and interesting to the student of history, the adventure-lover, and the artist, as they are, these Pirate stories and pictures have been scattered through many magazines and books. Here, in this volume, they are gathered together for the first time, perhaps not just as Mr. Pyle would have done, but with a completeness and appreciation of the real value of the material which the author's modesty might not have permitted."

--Merle Johnson, Foreword, 1921

Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates--Fiction, Fact & Fancy concerning the Buccaneers & Marooners of the Spanish Main (1921) is a beautifully illustrated book about pirates and buccaneers of the Spanish Main written by Howard Pyle, with his own 62 illustrations, including 13 color illustrations. It includes The Ghost of Captain Brand, Tom Chist and the Treasure Box, Jack Ballister's Fortunes, The Ruby of Kishmoor, and other tales.

Although this is a 100-year-old book, the short stories remain an enjoyable read about the world of pirates.
