Synopsis

As one ride ends...

Yusuke Ogino is living the dream, with a beautiful girlfriend who loves him to death and an Italian bike that’s almost paid off—but what does the future hold? And what happens when the past comes back to haunt him? On the cusp of adulthood, Ogino must grapple with the Big Questions, and there’s no guarantee he’s going to win.

Bringing his manic mix of absurd comedy and painful honesty to bear on the existential quandaries we all face at some point in our lives, Minoru Furuya concludes his coming-of-age masterpiece true to form, with all the messiness of real life. Even if we end up where we begin, at least it’ll be a wild ride getting there—and maybe that’s all that really matters.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Award-winning manga artist Minoru Furuya made his debut with the acclaimed gag manga Ping-Pong Club in 1993. Since then, his comics have become ever more character-focused, emotionally intricate, and thematically dark—an about-face so extreme that fans worried he had suffered a mental breakdown. His more recent series are an extension of his early work, however, his detailed and lifelike art still informed by humor and caricature. Furuya is a poet of discomfort and a champion of outsiders, misfits, losers, and loners, his comics depicting the awkward struggles and crushing banality of everyday life in excruciating detail.

Ping-Pong Club spawned a popular anime, and two of his subsequent series have been adapted into feature films. Ciguatera will be his English-language manga debut.
