Synopsis

Music has long been understood not just as sounds sung or played, but as part of the harmonic fabric of human and cosmic life. Composers, performers, and listeners have often felt that music resonates with these vaster dimensions. Until now, few scholars have probed the rich interactions between the musical and esoteric domains. This edited collection introduces the interface of music and esotericism and explores instances from medieval to modern times.
