Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) is an interdisciplinary degree that was first offered by the University of Oxford in 1920. It is notable for the number of students who went on to have careers as politicians, academics or even to become Nobel laureates.

This text has three objectives; to provide useful and challenging content at an advanced level using Five Core Skills.

First, this textbook incorporates university-level English content for non-native speakers, using subjects that they 1) may already be studying and 2) they will later find useful in their career. (Content and Language Integrated Learning CLIL).Secondly, the level of the vocabulary and content conforms to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Advanced English C1.

Lastly, there are thirty lessons, each timed to fit a 90-minute university class and designed to emphasize the Five Core Skills (FCS) of listening, comprehension, speaking, narration and writing.

There is also a separate Student's Workbook available, which enables the student’s classwork to be kept in one place to enable both the student and the teacher to see the progress throughout the academic year.
