Synopsis
Jimmy Carter had a meteoric rise from peanut farmer to the Presidency. It began with an election to the Georgia State Senate that was nearly stolen from him by election fraud in Quitman County. The newspapers of the region scrambled to cover the events as their bias saw fit and the divisions between urban and rural Georgia became more apparent as the scandal lengthened.
