Synopsis

According to the final book of the Bible, Revelation, the eternal residence of redeemed humanity will be in New Jerusalem, a city splendid beyond imagining. It is surrounded by a wall made of jasper. That word, "jasper," according to its description in the context is most likely a clear and dazzling diamond. The wall has twelve foundation stones: jasper (diamond), sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, and amethyst. When Jesus entered Jerusalem on what we now call Palm Sunday, His disciples praised Him as if He were God (which He is). But the Pharisees asked Him to rebuke them. His reply was enigmatic: "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."If the stones could indeed cry out, what would they say? No one knows, of course. However, these beautiful, precious gems, holding up the diamond wall of New Jerusalem could say nothing less than noble and exalted things in praise of God their Creator. This collection of poems gives speech to those twelve splendid but inanimate precious stones. For each stone, there are five poems making a total of sixty. Two more poems give praise to the wall itself and the eternal city that it surrounds. Glorious things are said of the City of God. All true pilgrims see themselves as sojourners here in this life on their way to New Jerusalem. All sincere seekers will find God through His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. Perhaps these poems will help the readers to get a more hopeful perspective of the glory and majesty of God and of the heaven that He has made for us.
