Elaina and Connor grew up as neighbors and as very best friends until Freshman year, the night he flew off the deep end. The night he decided he didn't care anymore. About anyone, or anything, least of all himself.Elaina was eager to escape her hometown, not wanting to be stuck at the dead end that she saw at the end of the tunnel when she pictured her life in Provincetown. However, California was plagued with it's own issues and toxicity, and a few years later, she finds herself back in Maine. It seems as if everything had been on pause while she was gone, resuming the second she crossed the state line. Nothing has changed, except for Connor, who has gotten much worse than she could've imagined. A lost and troubled soul crying out for help while simultaneously pushing everybody away. Elaina wants to help him, but at what cost? Her own sanity? Her own safety? Can someone be saved if they don't really want to be?
