Synopsis

When Your Job Stops Being Safe explores how individuals can navigate layoffs, career pivots, and professional reinvention using the Antifragility Reframe Methodology.

Drawing from conversations featured on the Reframe for Resilience and Antifragility Reframe podcasts, Dr. Frank L. Douglas presents a series of real-world case stories illustrating how people respond when career stability suddenly disappears. Each story examines the challenges of job loss, career transition, and personal reinvention through the lens of antifragility—the idea that individuals can grow stronger through disruption.

Following each case study, readers are guided through a practical “Do-It-Yourself” section using the Antifragility Reframe Compass, a framework designed to help individuals rethink problems, identify opportunities, and chart a new path forward.

Combining personal insight, leadership experience, and practical tools, this book offers readers a structured approach for transforming career uncertainty into growth, resilience, and lasting impact.

À propos de l?auteur

Dr. Frank L. Douglas is a global pharmaceutical executive, academic leader, and author with more than forty years of experience in industry and higher education. He served as Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Management at Aventis (now Sanofi), and as Founding Executive Director of the MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Douglas has focused on solving complex scientific, organizational, and human challenges by reframing problems in ways that unlock new possibilities. As an African American leader navigating spaces where few looked like him, he developed what he calls Reframe techniques-approaches that transform adversity into progress and opportunity.

He first introduced this methodology in his book Until You Walk in My Shoes: A Reframing Methodology to Overcome Systemic Discrimination. His work later expanded into the Reframe for Resilience podcast, which evolved into the Antifragility Reframe podcast exploring how individuals can grow stronger through adversity.

When Your Job Stops Being Safe is the first book in the Antifragility Reframe Series, drawing on real-life conversations and case studies to help readers transform career disruption into opportunity.
