This book chronicles the life of Bruce Ream, AIA Emeritus. It provides a vivid and heartfelt account of his life as a husband, father, architect, pilot, and adventurer. It weaves together his personal experiences, historical moments, and family dynamics in a way that he hopes will engage the reader.
During his life he kept meeting people who furthered his career and saw in him an ambitious, energetic, and creative architect. He and his wife, Linda, have three grown children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They have been married for almost 70 years.
The book will illustrate from an early age his love of flying. He became a pilot and still flies Radio Controlled airplanes. He has combined this with his deep interest in WWII and airplanes from that era. His other passions include skiing, fishing, photography, and travel. He and his wife have traveled to 46 countries which made for many unique adventures.
In 1985 he joined the architectural firm of OWP&P Architects and Engineers in Chicago, Illinois. The firm had 50 employees when he joined. He helped OWP&P grow, and when he retired in 2002, the firm had 387 employees. For many years he was a partner in the firm and served on their Board of Directors. He was also President of their subsidiary OWP&P Design/Build.
He and Linda retired from their high-paced life in Chicago in 2002. The pull of Colorado's weather, skiing, their cabin, and fishing brought them to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where they now live.
