Synopsis
A city newspaper gets a chilling phone call: a bank president has been killed, and the caller signs off with a single letter. A star reporter races to the scene and finds a strange calling card in the victim’s hand, plus a small clue that makes no sense—apple seeds.
Then the calls come again, each one timed to send every newsroom into a frenzy. The murders spread from bank to bank, with no clear motive and no theft. The police lock down offices, watch every doorway, and still the killer slips away, leaving another red scrap marked with that same letter.
Working the story as both reporter and investigator, the journalist studies the evidence, tracks the voice behind the calls, and sets a risky trap meant to lure the culprit into the open. But the killer is proud, clever, and eager to prove he can strike again—right up to the moment the trap snaps shut.
