Catholic scholar, Bernard Lee observed: "Most Christological interpretation has been 'supersessionist', that is, it has interpreted Jesus as initiating a new Covenant that supersedes Judaism. Historically, it is quite improbable that Jesus had any such thing in mind." Similarly, "There is little likelihood that Jesus had any conscious intention of founding a new religious institution, either superseding Judaism or alongside it." The obvious question is: If that was not in the mind of Jesus, on whose life and teachings Christianity is said to be based, in whose mind was it?
