Synopsis

Elizabeth Reardon is a brilliant astronomer and she discovers a comet whose orbit has become suddenly altered in its approach toward Earth. Her research also reveals that a celestial anomaly in a distant constellation may be responsible, not only for the comet's new orbit, but for a century of progressive climate change that has been taking place on Earth. As the planet now experiences an increasing disruption in weather patterns, she finds evidence that the effects of the anomaly could threaten all life on our planet. But, convincing the U.S. government is a monumental task. Already accepted into astronaut training, she makes the case that further study is needed from Earth orbit and is soon assigned to the Hercules orbiting space platform. Combining forces with experts from JPL and a teenage computer genius, Beth obtains further proof of the threat posed by the anomaly but remains the only voice calling for mobilization and its destruction. The U.S. president enlists the aid of former naval pilot and astronaut, Jack Priest now head of research and development for the Lunex Corporation, to lead a team to study and if necessary, divert the anomaly using a newly developed propulsion system. But, Lunex is the target of a takeover by Solardyne, China's largest corporate space conglomerate, which has established a financially lucrative massive solar power station in Earth orbit and the company will stop at nothing in its quest to obtain the propulsion system and become the Earth's greatest space nation.Acquisition of the propulsion system by Solardyne is something that Priest cannot let happen. He moves the propulsion system to the Hercules, but that doesn't stop Solardyne. Using it's political influence at the security council and an army of loyalists, supported by the Chinese military, Solardyne pushes the attack against the Alliance. In Book One, we learn that the mission to divert the anomaly has ended in disaster. Now with minimal hope of survival, the crew of the Odyssey tries desperately to save the Earth. What does it have to do with a century old doctoral thesis and a dead Russian cosmonaut found on the Moon? In the thrilling conclusion of this epic adventure, a handful of patriots will battle and survive on the Moon not knowing who will survive the final challenge.
