Synopsis

Writing Through Camp is a series of writing composition workbooks intended to be used in the project-based learning curriculum of Wilderness Road Therapeutic Camping Association camps. This workbook is designed to address two issues. First, many campers reach a point in their camp stay when they reach a plateau in their writing. They have learned the essentials of grammar and form but need some structure to continue learning and growing in their writing skills. Secondly, this workbook is intended to help campers gain appropriate credit for their time at camp. This workbook does not add additional "bookwork" to a camper's day but uses a writing project that they are already doing - Trip Study for this unit - and brings some intentionality to this activity. Each lesson guides the camper through a step of trip study and includes concepts and skills to implement as they write. Each lesson guides the student through a process of "Plan, Do, Evaluate" in implementing the specific concept. This resource is flexible and can be accomplished with a month or two. This is written on the 9th and 10th-grade level.
