Synopsis
This book contains three fictional stories about the North Country of New York. The stories focus on the Thousand Islands section of the Saint Lawrence River, which is the border between New York and Canada. The stories thus have a strong Canadian perspective, especially since my ancestors came to Canada in 1823 and are all buried in a small rural cemetery in Dresden, Ontario. The stories also feature Thousand Island Park, which is where my wife Mary Cerreto and I have had a cottage for the past 30 years. But I hope the issues will resonate universally. Each story has an unlikely hero. My goal was to let the reader decide who the heroes are. I know who I think the heroes are, but the readers can decide for themselves. The stories deal with serious issues like murder, drugs and terrorism, but also provide space for love, tolerance, courage, forgiveness and renewal. They are just stories. Make them your own.
