Synopsis

PI Kim Murphy’s staycation is rudely interrupted by a dead body that refuses to stay put… Too broke to go on a real vacation, Kim’s plans include napping, sunbathing, and eating lots of junk food while indulging in a few romance books. Her plans certainly do not include anything that has to do with a medical examiner…or so she thought. Kim never imagined she’d have to put a watch detail on a corpse so it didn’t disappear… When one of Kim’s besties discovers a body in the back yard, they follow procedure and call the authorities. But by the time police arrive, the cadaver is missing, making both Kim and her friend look like “overreacting, distraught females.” When Kim’s on-again-off-again boyfriend, officer Grant Tompkins, arrests a suspect for the murder, it might just be the end of their sort-of relationship… Of course Kim wants the killer behind bars, but not if she’s sure Grant has arrested the wrong person. Desperate to find the real criminal, Kim ignores the law—and her own common sense—to track down a calculating murderer whose new plans may include sending Kim on a permanent vacation. If Kim isn’t careful, the next disappearing body may be her own...
