On July 16, 1969, a rocket manned by three men blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island in Florida. Its destination: the moon. In the midst of the Cold War, civil rights movement, summer of love, and the Vietnam war, NASA accomplished what was thought to be impossible.
From race war to space race, All About the Moon Landing covers the successful Apollo 11 mission to put a man on the moon and all of the events that led up to it. The book works through the social issues, political problems, and international tensions surrounding the great space race to better explain how amazing landing on the moon was.
The newest addition to the All About . . . series, All About the Moon Landing is designed to interest middle-grade readers ages 9 to 14 in science, engineering, technology, and math. After all, Apollo 11 wouldn't have landed on the moon without it! Complete with a professionally developed teacher's guide and expertly crafted illustrations, All About the Moon Landing is perfect for any student's library.
