When a homeless man interrupts the comfortable routine of First Church of Raymond, life will never be the same for the apathetic congregation. Convicted by the vagrant's words, Pastor Henry Maxwell along with parishioners like singer Rachel Winslow, heiress Virginia Page, and railroad superintendent Alex Powers are thrust into a journey of discovering what life is like beyond "Christianity as usual." But as they find themselves opposed by family strife, church politics, and scorned lovers, will they be able to keep their commitment, or will they be dragged back into their conventional lives?
Just as in Sheldon's day, the world needs to see the self-sacrificing love of Christ, not only in word but also in the lives of His present-day disciples.Les informations fournies dans la section « Synopsis » peuvent faire référence à une autre édition de ce titre.
Charles Sheldon (1857-1946) received his education at Brown University and Andover Theological Seminary before he founded Central Congregational Church in Topeka, Kansas, in 1889. He wrote stories that he often read to his congregation. In 1896, he published his fictional work In His Steps. The book introduced the world to the phrase "What would Jesus do?" and was an instant success. For sixty years it remained the highest-selling book in the United States after the Bible, with sales estimated at more than thirty million copies worldwide.
