During the 90s the reality experienced by western Alaskans clashed with "environmental" extremists who insisted that predator control, specifically wolf population management, was inhumane, wrong, and politically incorrect. Backed by media, who prospered from the manufactured controversy, the extremists left their mark that remains to this day. That mark was an ugly footprint that violated the lifestyles and future of rural Alaskans. That violation, and the lessons gleaned from it, can easily be applied to issues today. May we now and forever know that managing resources with emotion and media are deadly, deceptive, and harmful, with long-term negative consequences for all involved and concerned.
