Principles That Make You Strong is a textbook for elementary school students in developing the moral character that will enable them to live successful, productive lives. In this book children will meet Ben, a boy who wanted to be a fighter pilot, Bonnie, confined to a wheelchair, who nevertheless mastered the skills that made her into a creative, disciplined person, and Thuan, who helped his family escape from South Vietnam. They will get to know Cuyler and Jason who, while working in their father’s business, made a valuable discovery. Many children make mistakes and readers will meet Ryan, who got himself in a lot of trouble, but straightened out his life by doing the right thing. Roberto lost his father when he was only a baby and grew up poor, but became a successful businessman. Paul loved airplanes and saved the money he earned at his job to pay for flying lessons. Rebecca earned her nursing degree because of her compassion for an injured young girl, and five-year old Chris helped her parents start a school for poor children who lived in a city dump. Each of these real children developed the inner character for life by following certain principles such as responsibility, honesty, self control, initiative, hard work and kindness. Their lives became models of the great tree in Psalm 1, a tree planted by rivers of water that produced good fruit. With 14 lessons, the book is intended as school curricula, with probing questions and activities suggested for teachers at the end of each chapter. It is currently being taught in many public school classrooms in Central America, and would also be valuable for home school students. It is available in both English and Spanish.
