Synopsis

The days are growing darker, and I can almost taste the fear that hangs in the air. Most of the men that have been gathered are counting their last hours instead of days. It is a terrifying feeling, knowing that many of them are looking to me for a miracle. The problem is that I am also terrified, and the thought of being in the midst of a great battle churns within the recesses of my mind. I know what is coming; I have seen them before. Even worse, the reports are grim, no help seems to be coming from Ryman, and no news on the dwarves either. The pike fleet is both fierce and ready, but will that be enough? As I sit wondering who will survive and who will fall, I look on into the night. It was at this time Samous surprised me. Sensing my apprehension, he counseled me with these words; “Laugh for today, and rest for the fight. Let your worries and fears fade with the oncoming night. For soon we will face our destiny’s light. Soon we will stand and test our might.” These words struck me, I don’t know what my destiny holds. Yet I wonder what will become of us all as we stand and test our might.
