This is the third published book from the Bull City YouthBuild students of Durham, North Carolina. In here are the memoirs, poetry, essays, and letters written by students as they reflect on their past, present, and future. Each year, new cohorts of students start Bull City YouthBuild, which is an organization that is a part of the Triangle Literacy Council (TLC). Bull City YouthBuild students spend time in academic classrooms and work on Habitat for Humanity-sponsored construction projects offering affordable housing in Durham neighborhoods. At the end of the 9-month program, the students are expected to receive their high school equivalency and finish a construction project together that gives back to their community. As well, as part of the Literacy and Community Initiative at North Carolina State University, the students also participate in a writing project. This writing project is led my NC State researchers who have designed a writing curriculum alongside Bull City YouthBuild instructors that is relevant to the students' lives. Through the writing process, these students explore themselves, their communities, and their dreams. Looking back to the words of MLK in his speech, "What is Your Life's Blueprint?" these students draw on the metaphor of blueprints and foundations as they reflect on their lived experiences. These are their words.
