The Christian faith began in a very simple way, with a person, with the love of a person, with a one-to-one relationship with Jesus Christ. The Christian life is a life of loving relationships; to God, to oneself, to others, and to our world. But just as the heart of the Christian life was being understood, within a few centuries it had already undergone many changes. In our own century, the Christian church has increasingly been declining. People are not attending church or are turning away from religion altogether. Many are looking elsewhere for meaning in their lives. This is an age of great religious change, diversity, and disaffiliation. I believe the decline of the Christian church is largely due to the fact that the deeper Christian life is untaught and unknown. What is that deeper spiritual life? This deeper Way of Christ is a focus on three things: an experienced union with Christ; an experience of the working of the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit in your life; and an experience of intimacy with God our Father. Three experiences form a unity with the One God. Experiences that all have to do with a conscious life lived in close communion with God. A felt awareness of the continual reality of the Triune God in your life. This deeper Way is experiential. It is Trinitarian. The deeper way of Jesus is Christ-centered, Father-centered, Holy Spirit-centered. The deeper way is an experience of the Life of God himself, the life of the Holy Trinity. The deeper life is a relationship with each Person of the Triune God. It is the Fatherhood of God and the sonship/daughtership of his children, all under the direction and guidance of the Father's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, in a felt union with Jesus. In short, it is the conscious awareness of the presence and working of the Three Persons of the Trinity in our lives, and our relationship with each divine Person of the Trinity.
